Life is Absurd

I’m not that popular on Twitter. I know that, and that’s fine. That being said, if I get 9+ stars for a tweet, it’s a big deal. I’m not a personality, I don’t share anything about my life. I’m in it purely to get laughs. Each star represents a laugh. If I post a tweet that…

I agree that the feedback Favstar supplies has been an addictive and invaluable pleasure, and something I never would’ve imagined I’d receive in a million years. Unfortunately, it’s not always a particularly reliable gauge as to what’s funny and what’s not funny.

I’ve made strides to ween myself from the site over the past few months; I’ve removed the link from my profile, I almost never look at the leaderboard anymore, and I’m a lot less conscious about deleting my own tweets simply because they’ve performed poorly.

There seems to be so many people who seem more interested in using it more as a bartering system than as a genuine way to provide feedback. But I suppose the system could never be perfect.

Twitter/Favstar is pure, unmitigated ego.. Who doesn’t enjoy having their ego rubbed? And who doesn’t occasionally feel burned and bruised when it’s not?

First off, everything Nick tweets is hysterical and deserves all the stars in the world.

Secondly, it’s better for your psyche to really not give a fuck about Favstar. If you find yourself getting upset over a lack of e-stars, you should log off and try to create something in the real world (write a script, paint a picture of a flower, make a pizza and smear the grease all over your face).

Sure it can be frustrating when you feel like you’re owed something, but in actuality, nobody is entitled to anything.
